Building a custom home is something the majority of the population is never gonna do. But I can tell you firsthand that being able to define what “home” feels and looks like to you, and then see that dream come to life – is everything.
But it’s also not for the faint of heart. The fact that you are here and looking for resources to help you means that you have what it takes, and I’m here so that you don’t have to do it alone.
Once upon a time in Texas, my husband and I lived in a cookie cutter house in a stifling subdivision that was rapidly sucking the joy out of us. We knew that our next step was a custom home on acreage so we could experience more nature and freedom in our great state.
I’m happy to report that the dream became a reality for us – but not without curveballs, closed doors, and tears along the way. From having to hire an attorney, to unexpected expenses, to a 2-year delay, I’m here to dish everything I learned so that your process can be as easy, positive, and seamless as possible.

Phase 1: Dreaming

Phase 2: Planning

Phase 3: Pre-Construction Prep
When it’s “go time”, but you aren’t yet breaking ground on the construction just yet: this is likely the most overwhelming phase because you are juggling a lot of moving parts in a very short period of time, such as an interim home, and making a final decision on your homebuilder and lender.
Phase 4: Construction
And then finally…you break ground and you’re in the building and selections phase. The super exciting phase that is primarily managed by your builder, but in which you have a bewildering amount of decisions to make.
