Hi I’m Angela

So who is this person telling you that they are here to walk you through everything you need to know about building a custom home, one of the biggest financial commitments you may ever make?

The answer is: I was you, many years ago.

I’m not a homebuilder, banker, architect, interior designer, or contractor. I’m just an everyday gal who was utterly clueless when I set out on my custom home-building adventure.

My journey began when my husband and I moved into our first home as a married couple. Technically, it was a new home, but it was one of those semi-custom, cookie-cutter houses in a treeless subdivision.

That’s when we started dreaming of breaking free from that stifling neighborhood and having our very own custom home, nestled on some acreage, so we could embrace nature and live life on our terms.

My quest for answers about the nitty-gritty of this process led to an endless stream of Google searches. But unfortunately, I found very few answers. It turns out that real education on this subject is almost nonexistent because, let’s face it, not many people build custom homes.
The limited resources I did stumble upon were mostly from banks or builders, giving just the basics and glossing over the complex details and tradeoffs you face in this process. In many cases, they nudged you in a certain direction without addressing all your questions.

As I chatted with various folks involved in the process, it became clear that no single entity – be it the lender or the homebuilder – could possibly cover every facet of this intricate journey. Why? Because building a custom home involves countless moving parts, people, and requirements, and no one can wear all those hats.

That’s when it hit me: no one else but us could champion this custom home build. No one else would watch out for our project and our best interests. That role had to fall on the homeowner – and that’s you, my friend.

So, I rolled up my sleeves, cobbled together answers, crafted a timeline, and assembled resources to make informed decisions. I put together the puzzle pieces for us and I’ve created a comprehensive road map for you.

OUR HOMEBUILDING JOURNEY

Our journey began long before we were financially ready to start building. We hunted for the perfect piece of land, and when we found it, we didn’t waste any time snatching it up.
As we got our finances in order, we started shaping our vision for the floor plan and design. Eventually, we had blueprints in hand.

As we got closer to starting construction, we began reaching out to builders. But guess what? We encountered a massive curveball with our land that we’d never seen coming. It was a shocker that led to a brutal two-year delay, unexpected costs, and countless moments of doubt.

But we persevered, got past the hurdle, and just as we were ready to start, our original plan for a homebuilder fell through and we were back to the drawing board again, searching for the right builder willing to bring our dream home to life. After a serendipitous introduction to the homebuilder we ultimately chose, we faced another unexpected change when it came to our initial lender choice, while navigating the dilemma of where we would live while we were building. Eventually, we broke ground, and experienced the rollercoaster journey of the construction phase, and I’m happy to report that we are currently residing in our beautiful home.

Our journey was filled with decisions that led to unexpected twists and pivots, closed doors that led to new paths, but ultimately, it brought us to where we wanted to be – on a gorgeous piece of Texas land, living in a home we designed to fit our lives perfectly.

The Support You Need

So, why should you listen to me, some random gal who isn’t a homebuilder, banker, architect, interior designer, or contractor?

Listen to me because I’m the neutral third party you need by your side throughout this journey.

My unique experience opened my eyes to the countless paths that a custom home build can take, along with the overwhelming amount of decisions you will have to make about things you have never thought about before.

As a homeowner who traveled this journey for years, I can give you the info to weigh your options and make the best decisions for YOU. I won’t push you in any direction, but I’ve got answers to questions you don’t even know you have yet.

I created this course because my husband and I had ZERO support along the way. We navigated this challenging journey all alone, with frustration, plenty of stress, and moments of lost hope. But we made it. And I can’t help but share everything I’ve learned.

Building a custom home isn’t for the faint of heart, but the fact that you’re here means you’ve got what it takes. The good news? You don’t have to go through this process all on your own. I’ve got your back, with the information and conversation you need to make this process as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

I look forward to guiding you through building your custom home – Angela
